The answer to the third commandment is to honor the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. When we make much of the name of Jesus, we are honoring a humble, loving, serving God, and we are loving and serving a forgiving God. It’s not about your name; your name is not the most important name. His name is the name that is above every name.
This clip is excerpted from the sermon “III. Do Not Take God’s Name in Vain,” the third part of our sermon series Ten Commandments: Set Free to Live Free. It was preached by Pastor Mark Driscoll out of Exodus 20:7 at Mars Hill Downtown Bellevue and released on September 29, 2013.
