Testimony: God's Hand Shopping Cart Accident (Warning to Parents)

I’m posting this as a warning to all parents, guardians even babysitters so that you might avoid the incident I encountered on Saturday. I know that some of you will read this and feel as though the event was my fault and to be honest because she was in my care you are correct. I know there are others who might have had the same thing happen or something similar and that you will understand the guilt, hurt and frustration that I feel and you to are correct. However I feel that if this tool we know as blogging should be used for anything, giving you warning that you should take heed to is one of them.
Please, no matter how many children you have with you, whether you are getting one thing or 20, never place your infant and their carrier in the top part of the shopping cart.
This weekend my youngest two daughters and I were going shopping at Walmart. This warning is about the youngest of those two, she is two months old. As I entered the parking lot I drove around until I found a spot near the shopping carts that had one of the convenience cart with the toddler seats attached. It was Hot so I felt the seats to make sure they weren’t too hot for the older bottom, I placed her in the seat and buckled her up to make sure she was secure and then I placed the infant carrier in the top.
We entered Walmart with no problem. We went on gathering our items and had payed and all set to leave when the following occurred. As we were walking through the main doors the first set of tires went over the kick plate fine, as I continued to leave and the second set of wheels went over I felt the bump and the most horrific experience I have ever had as mother happened. My two month old daughter AND her carrier went flying out of the shopping cart. I tried to catch them but I couldn’t get my hands firmly enough on the carrier. She went over the left side of the cart and crashed onto the ground. God is good and ever watching because it landed on the bar and as far as I could tell her body did not hit the ground. She screamed and I picked her up looking for any and all signs of injury.
I couldn’t believe what had just happened. I couldn’t believe that my daughter had just fallen right in front of my eyes. A woman sitting near by saw the whole thing and she and the Walmart greeter both ran to my assistance stating they had no idea how that happened.
As I said earlier I know that some of you will read this and say it happened because I was negligent. To you all I can say is nothing that can be said from anyone’s mouth or computer can make me feel any worse than my own sense of responsibility does. To those who have experienced anything similar I have an new sense of understanding of how accidents effect your thoughts and feelings. For those who question is there a God let me tell you there is. Nothing but the grace of a loving and kind God kept her from harm. Nothing but the grace of a loving and kind God will help me to stop seeing her eyes as she fell or remove the panic that I feel even now as I type this post. I wish the day had gone differently, i wish that it never happened, however I pray that by writing this down and putting it up will prevent this from happening to anyone else. Lord knows the possibilities of her being severely injured were there, however I know that My God had his protective hand over her that day. So this is my testimony and I needed to share it with each of you. I feel truly blessed that God favored my family last Saturday. Take heed to my warning and keep your little angels out of the top part of the shopping cart and if you do place them in there be especially mindful as you go over the door plates as you enter and leave the stores.
Be Blessed,
RiverAngel42
I read this after being encouraged to do so by the comment below. Thank you for directing me here!
Psalm 91
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a] 2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

  1. Good thing we should model our behavior after Christ and not the other way around. His forgiveness, mercy, grace, favor, compassion, judgement, reproach and understanding knows no bounds, and is incomprehensible to us. However that’s love. If only we could all love that way!
    Be Blessed I pray that mother in the video can move past the grief and pain she must be experiencing.

    #1 I’m willing to say that 99% of the people who read this would NOT have shared that experience in public for fear that they would be looked down upon by others. Who cares what others think? We are concerned with what our FATHER thinks! #2 By you sharing this shows your Love and Compassion for each of us. I pleased to hear that she is doing well. THANK YOU FOR SHARING. Continue Your Walk in FAITH. SHALOM.

  6. God is awesome, may His name be praised forever because of you & your family. Always remember that you & your entire family are safely tucked in the hollow of God’s Hand. Thank you for your warning.
