Kirk Franklin Gathers Gospel Artist To Help Haiti

Kirk Franklin wants the gospel industry to do for Haiti what “We Are The World” did for famine relief.

Recently at a Stellar Awards brunch Kirk Franklin enlisted the aid of his fellow gospel artist and friends to come together for a song entitled, “Song of Pain”.  Soon after his request gospel artist including Yolanda Adams, Marvin Winans, Mary Mary, Natalie Grant, Dorinda Clark-Cole, BeBe & CeCe, David & Tamela Mann, Vickie Winans, Donald Lawrence, Shirley Caesar, Dewayne Woods, Stephen Hurd, Bishop Paul Morton, Anthony and Tarshe Hamilton, P.J. Morton, and J.J.Hairston answered his call.

Stating ““We see these people as God’s children”, Franklin said. “We want to do our part and I just want people to know that the gospel community can respond to a powerful natural disaster, and for the first time it will.”

Thank you for your efforts Kirk Franklin and all others involved. So many times we sit in the cynics seat and criticize and minimalize what the gospel/Christian/church community is doing, claiming our efforts remain internal instead of reaching those in need. Let’s pray that this effort will not only help those in Haiti but also restore the faith that so many of us have lost.

My assumption is that the song is going to be for sale. I know that many of us know how to “Get” music for free. However I ask that we all support this effort with our finances. It is due to be released both commercially and digitally by Verify Records and all vocals and production on this record were done for free.

Here is a small portion of a “Song of Pain” written by Kirk Franklin:
Is there anyone out there listening
Does anyone know my name?
No my friend we were not there
But we’re here and we care
And yes we feel your Pain

I can’t wait to hear and support.
