Question of the Day: 2 South Carolina Women Collapse After Being Convicted to Life After Murdering 3 yr old Girl (Video). What Did They Expect?

After watching the above video as a Mother and a Christian I sit here a little confused. I am angry that a little girl lost her life at the hands of people whom her mother trusted. I am sad for the Mother of the convicted who whailed and screamed at her daughter in the courtroom. However I am also confused by the response of the two ladies involved.
While I am sure it must have been hard (at best) to hear that you have to spend the rest of your life in prison. It would seem the lawyers would have prepared them. Not only that if you beat a child to death for urinating on the floor, what else would you expect? I wonder what was going through their minds? Did they think they would not be convicted? Did they think that they would have received a lighter sentence? What do you think? Was their sentencing to Life in Prison fair? Did you feel any remorse for the mother who was obviously concerned abut her daughter who was laid out on the courtroom floor?
Even more importantly, how are we supposed to pray for these young women? With Jerry Sandusky and the Penn State child molestation scandal and Casey Anthony being acquitted of murdering her daughter. What should our prayers consist of? When we are disgusted and angered by the actions taken against innocent little children how do we find it in our hearts to pray for those guilty of harming them? Do you pray for them?
Looking forward to reading your responses.
Be Blessed,

  1. I feel absolutely no sympathy for these two woman nor do I feel any for Erica’s mother. I know that’s her child but did she expect. Her child was involved in the murder of a young innocent threeyear old child. Im pretty sure that child was screaming and crying the exact same way Erica was when she received life in prison, but her cries was ignored until she took her last breath. They should have ignored Erica and the other girl the same way so they could see how it felt. I personally think they deserved the death penalty, but I also believe they should suffer and rot in prison for the rest of their lives.

  2. Well I mean, they should be glad they did’nt receive the death penalty… I would’nt be crying but grateful. What did you expect after killing a three year old????!
While I understand that Erica is your child, Erica was WRONG!
People learn from this… Everything isnt funny and life isn’t a joke…
You only have one time to do something STUPID and your life is gone just like that…
    God Bless them!

    1. You bring up some good points. Their sentencing could have been worse.
There are certainly somethings I will never understand, I think for my own sanity/purity there are some things I never want to understand. However what I still want to know is How do we pray for these young ladies? We have a charge to do so.
      Hebrews 13:1-25 ESV
Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
