Sources say that Terry Jones made the following qoute regarding the cancellation of his “burn the Koran Day”:
“We have firmly made up our mind, but at the same time, we are definitely praying about it,” said Jones, who heads the Dove World Outreach Church in Gainesville, Fla., told CNN Tuesday.

Jones said his group is “weighing the situation.”

Ok is it me or does it sound like Hog Wash to use the words “firmly, but, Praying and weighing” in the same sentence. If I am a firm yes or no, it typically means I am not weighing any other options. That is why you use the word FIRM. However God can change your mind, let’s hope He uses this man’s hands for His will to be done.

Jones said his rally is aimed at the “radical” Muslims, not moderate Muslims.

“Our message is a message of warning to the radical element of Islam.”

I really need to leave this alone for a while and let you talk. Following the Bambi rule.

One more thing, I feel as though becasue of his obvious age, he is picking a battle that he doesn’t have to fight. Why would you incite a battle that could lead to the demise of your sons and daughters. It goes beyond hating “Radical Muslims” to offering your children as a sacrifice for your cause. The point of a Shepard is to keep the sheep away from the wolves not dangle them out in front of them like bait. Ok I’m done

Be Blessed

Someone help me understand. I don’t get it. I understand that many Americans, myself included still remember the pain and horror of September 11th. However I don’t see how defaming the Quran fosters any type of healthy healing. There are people who are Muslim who lost love ones that day. There are people who are Muslim who are just as outraged as Christians are. The acts that happened on September 11th were of hate and anger. How does burning the Quran combat this. The Bible instructs us to love our enemies. Matthew 5:43-48 (New International Version)

Love for Enemies

43″You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44But I tell you: Love your enemies[b] and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

How is burning the Quran embracing this passage. We as Christians show God’s love by exhibiting love, even when it is difficult. Help me understand how his actions are Biblically sound. If they are not is he leading his congregation to sin? Better yet how do you atone for a demonstration that might incite others to murder our soldiers who are there to instill peace? How will he atone if his demonstration causes the senseless murder of our sons and daughters in the Armed forces. Will he then be seen as the enemy? If so perhaps he should read this passage and understand what God might have in store for him.
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
Also
Matthew 18:6 But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

I pray that he takes heed to the Word and the Word of General Petreas and cancels this demonstration. I just don’t see how his actions line up with honoring those who lost their lives or loved ones and what we should learn from the Prince of Peace.

Love Breeds Love, Hatred breeds hatred.

Be Blessed and continue to pray.

Ok! As you all get to know us better you will find that I, RiverAngel42, can’t always be serious. So today’s question is on a lighter note than yesterdays.

When you are listening to Gospel music and a song comes on that you just don’t like or want to hear.
Do you:
a) Skip it and hope that “Your Jam” comes on next
b) Feel a slight tinge of guilt for not liking a “Gospel” song and reluctantly skip
c) Say a little prayer and try to “Meditate” on the words
d) Suck your teeth, say forget it, turn the station to Hot 97

This was a real issue for me for a while. I know I’m not alone. I was a toss up between all of the options. But mostly “b’. I don’t know why but I felt like God was watching and that there was something in every Gospel song that I should be able to use. So I really felt guilty. Then I had a job where I was in a cubicle typing all day, mostly foreign documents and if it wasn’t up beat some days…well let’s just say I maximized my Pandora skips in about 5 minutes (By the way, the work around for that is to create a new station!)

Come on ya’ll, don’t be shy. I check for your comments all day. Talk to me!

Be Blessed,

RiverAngel42

We have so many issues going on around us at any given time. Some of us are not happy at our jobs, while others are constantly seeking employment. We have families whose needs we struggle to meet and as soon as we get our heads above water something else comes along to make us feel as though we are sinking yet again. Crime is up, money is down. However I think you get what I’m saying, I don’t want to depress anyone just by reading the post.

However I think we should help and encourage one another. So when the enemy of depression knocks on your door, how do you answer? What steps do you take to ward off or get rid of depression?

For some of us if we have a gray day we say we are depressed for others it is way more involved. In the African American community a good deal of us try to handle it on our own. However if you are having thoughts of harming yourself or others please seek help, either through Spiritual Guidance or Professional. I have entered some links and numbers below in the event you are in this place. Remember God instructs us to seek counsel and there is no shame in following the Word of the Lord.

Don’t forget to pay close attention to your children and elderly family members. Depression can attack anyone in your home and they are not as strong in articulating their feelings.

Have you listened to the song by Marvin Sapp, He Saw The Best In Me or what about Kirk Franklin’s, Imagine Me and wondered what it is about these songs that are so soul stirring? What is it about these songs that, for the most part, we can all relate to. It’s easy the word is acceptance. Not the kind of acceptance from when you were in High School and you were cool because you wore two pairs of different color tube socks at the same time. The kind of acceptance that says. “Lo, I am with you always”.

The words to these songs and others. Speak to a longing that most of us have. A need to be understood, forgiven, a desire to have our efforts appreciated. We all want people to understand that we are in a race and eventhough we might be going uphill in a heat wave now that we are in the race to win. That no matter how difficult the race we will cross the finish line.

Part of what people find so intoxicating about the power of God is His ability to love us faults and all. His patience in waiting for us to get right by His law. His grace and mercy in not comparing us to him. Think about it. God says,”Come unto me all that are weary and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 Here He is creator of all things and yet and still He is willing to deal with us when we are tired, burdened, worn out and promises to give us rest. Imagine if God said to you, “You need to put forth the same effort as I, be as perfect as Me, before I allow you to come into my Kingdom.” Boy, if He thought he was lonely before Adam and Eve….

It’s interesting to me that there are so many God fearing people who are so harsh with one another, so condemning toward one another. Scripture says, “A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.” Proverbs 18:2

By defintion the word understands is as follows:

Understand, verb: to be thoroughly familiar with; apprehend clearly the character, nature, or subtleties of.

or

characterized by understanding; prompted by, based on, or demonstrating comprehension, intelligence, discernment, empathy, or the like

We say that we are doing our best to be like Christ but by doing so feel that somehow means living by a different standard than we expect others to live by. God sees the best in us, yet we walk around telling everyone what is wrong with them. God sees the best in us, yet we find it very difficult to trust anyone. God sees the best in us, yet we are more willing to tell a person, a child, an entrepreneur how their venture will fail instead of encouraging them.

Romans 15:7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
