Lately the world has been paying so much attention to the politics that are going on in this country that it is truly bringing out the worst and the true colors in a lot of people.
With this being such a crucial time a lot of us are being distracted by what we see and we are forgetting to keep the “Main thing, the main thing http://onlinefellowship.org/archives/category/sermons/td-jakes/page/2 (see “Keeping the Main thing”). Right now as Christians instead of being distracted by what we are seeing, hearing and wondering what is going to happen we need to spend some time praying for God’s will to be done, praying for His coverage over our families and children who might wear a tshirt that is in opposition to another persons’ point of view. We need to be praying for peace and understanding and for God to work a miracle that will help alleviate some of the hatred that not only lives in other people’s hearts but ours as well.
I understand that politics is a heated arena right now and history is being made, that Obama has ignited something in a lot of our communities and young men and women that has been dim for a long time, but he is not our Saviour, Jesus is. We seriously need to be mindful of that, we need to remember that God has made Obama who he is today. I know I seem like I am on my soap box but my heart is heavy with concern for us as we go to the polls so focused on who wins that we forget who is truly the Head of our Lives, as we send our sons out to school with Obama shirts on when racist police officers have guns and billyclubs and no law can protect us from the ugliness that is just beginning to show its face. But I know WHO can. There has been a long standing rule in our country that there would be a separation of church and state, but now today with this change that is being made, those of us who know God need to know different.
